ADDICTED TO PORNOGRAPHY

We want to help you.

Pornography is not something that you can overcome by yourself. You need help NOW. Please do not hide your struggle because the more you hide the more spiritual destruction you will reap. It is time to STOP and ask for HELP!

  • Do you know that many born-again Christians are into pornography? Statistics read that 60% of Christian men have sought out some form of pornography
  • At one large Christian men's meeting, 50% of those in attendance said they had looked at pornographic material within the past week
  • 91% of men raised in Christian homes were exposed to pornography while growing up (compared to 98% of those not raised in a Christian home)
  • 51% of pastors admit that pornography is a temptation, with 37% saying that pornography is a continual struggle, and 33% admitting they have viewed internet pornography within the last year
  • 17% of all women struggle with porn addiction, and 1 in 3 visitors to adult websites are women
  • Internet pornography and/or illicit chat is a factor in 2 out of 3 divorces
  • 42% of children age 10-17 have been exposed to internet pornography in the last 12 months

(These statistics were gleaned from trustworthy Christian sources on the internet)

Pornography addiction is not a "disease" or a "weakness" but a heart problem. Jesus said, "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). Jesus also said, "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications..." (Mark 7:21). To have victory over the sin of pornography, one must have an internal transformation--a complete, radical, Holy Spirit-powered change of the heart. How is such a change possible? The key is the Word of God!

Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." You need a "heart surgery," with the Holy Spirit as your Surgeon, and with the word of God the sharp, glistening scalpel in His hand. Psalm 119:11 says, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Victory over pornography is won as you daily grasp and allow God to apply "...the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Ephesians 6:17)!

HVBDC heartily recommends a unique ministry known as In Purity Ministry. It seeks to assist Bible-believing Baptist men and women in the struggle against pornography and sexual temptations. They offer a 60-day course of Bible devotions on purity.

Taken from In Purity Ministry website:

To help in your battle, In Purity Ministry offers free, confidential, daily Bible devotions on purity. Here is what you will receive:

  • One devotional lesson a day, for 60 days, sent by e-mail a week at a time
  • Each daily devotion includes a King James Bible memory verse on purity
  • Purity devotions take only 5-10 minutes to complete
  • Each devotion includes a few accountability questions
  • To protect your privacy, I will not ask your name or any other personal information; all you need is an e-mail address that works (free, anonymous e-mail accounts are available from many sources)

We encourage you to sign up now for In Purity Ministry’s devotions at www.in-purity.org. To get started, just click the link to "E-Mail" and send a message asking for the free daily Bible devotions. I pray that God will greatly bless you in taking this courageous step to break the cycle of sin and become "...an example of the believers...in purity" (I Timothy 4:12).

They will ask you to have an accountability partner who will monitor your replies to the devotions and to provide support. In Purity Ministry has limited staff and resources so one of our counseling team is willing to be your accountability partner.

Please contact us at HVBDC@aol.com to ask for an accountability partner. We will assign one from our counseling team. All emails will be permanently deleted and all conversations kept confidentially. Remember we want to help you.

HVBDC in conjunction with Way of Life Literature Fundamental Baptist Information Service also heartily recommends another unique service known as Covenant Eyes for Internet Users.

Taken from Covenant Eyes for Internet Users

Pornography has become a massive problem in the internet age. This powerfully addictive sin is only a mouse click away when we are browsing the internet, and it has taken many captive.

We would like to recommend a new service called Covenant Eyes, which monitors the individual’s internet usage and emails reports to selected people for accountability. A husband can have the e-mails sent to his wife. A pastor can have them sent to his deacons. Parents can receive reports on their children’s browsing history.

The accountability report lists web sites visited, internet searches, and the times of day when the Internet is used. It also features a score that ranks the individual’s level of objectionable internet usage.

Covenant Eyes also has a filtering service that can be used in combination with the accountability service.

Complete information and pricing can be found at http://www.covenanteyes.com.

It is our fervent prayers that you will overcome your addiction to pornography so to glorify God!
